notebook capture card for montage

I have a HP zd8205us notebook. P4 w/HT 2.8GHz, 512 DDR2. I am trying to find a capture card to create a h2 montage. I have read that the majority of usb, even 2.0 devices give poor quality. I am not trying to use my laptop as a tv, just trying to create the montage in a video size big enough to view in good quality. 320x240 is fine, but I would prefer closer to 640x480. I would like to be able to continuously record to reduce editing. I am looking to spend around $100-150. Is there an alternative to PCI with good quality so that I dont have to open up my notebook? or any good quality usb? and suggestions will help. thanx.
