HI all,

I'm a newbie trying to understand the whole software thing. Iv'e been using the Windows movie Maker 2 and have had a great time with it.

Having outgrown it, I purchased Pinnacle Studio 9.

It seems to me that my options are now even more limited unless I nickle and dime myself to purchase individual features.

Unless I'm just not understanding the function of the program, it seems in my best interest to dump it and just splurge on a better program.

Anyone with an opinion? I'm really frusterated and eager to get past my technical difficulties and make some art. Can anyone recomend a program with all features advertised, included?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Prudence

Very Happy I there,

I have had the same problem you seem to be having. I got Pinni 9 plus and found half the things in it where turned off! So I got the full Pinni 9 and still found I could not do all that I wanted to. Then I found Magix Movie edit pro 10 plus (what a mouth full!) and its got everything I wanted and its all switched on no add ons, no extras to pay for. From blue screen to dancing snowmen, its got it all. I'm into doing special effects with my work and this programme works for me.

How much does it cost? Well I got it for £30 off Ebay! Its full price is around £60 so I would say its a really good buy.

I hope this helps, you can get a cheeper version called Magix Movie edit pro which has some bits turned off but the 10 plus as it all.

happy film making.

First Kieth I am confused... You say you got studio 9 plus and then got studio 9 full? Studio 9 plus is an add on so studio 9 would not give you anything you did not have in studio 9 plus as far as I can see.

Prudance, as far as function of studio even with it's locked features it has much more features then windows movie maker does. All be it you are used to windows movie maker.

Movie maker - one video track, two audio track, one title track (only for text)
transitions and movie effects
No DVD or DVD file creation no menu creation for VCD (version 5.1)

studio 9 - one video track, three audio tracks, one title track (for text or still images)
transitions and movie effects (with alpha transitions that you can add and add until you are sick of creating them or your hard drive is full.) Options to burn to many media fromats, VCD, DVD, back to tape in DV, or export to the standard DVD files to be burned by other DVD burning or authoring software. Ability to create menus for VCD or DVDs. All of this is unlocked

I would suggest the plus add on as it gives you two video tracks, picture in a picture, and chroma key functionality. Not to mention panning and zooming of stills (for about 40$ here) maybe less on the net.

I have Pinnacle Studio 9 and I am very pleased with it. Although it will not burn a DVD compatible with DVD players. I have tried setting it according to the instructions, but all DVD's only play on the computer. However, it is very user friendly and the photo animation is superb. I import the AVI into my Adobe Encore to make a custom DVD menu and burn the DVD, which is compatible with DVD players. It sounds like you might want to do things just like I did. Take the favorite features of different programs combined to create your final DVD product. I like the fact that you can activate different special effects packages immediately over internet with Pinnacle, after viewing the selections. However, too many fancy transitions can certainly be overkill. Most professional programs simply use a standard fade in and fade out.
