Hi all,
Newbie here. I have just purchased a MiniDV camcorder and I want to be able to pull the video to my PC, edit it and burn to DVD. Assuming I have the necessary ports on my PC (Firewire) to connect my camcorder directly and I have the burner, etc., do I need a video capture card or just video editing software?

You should be fine without a video capture card.

Most DV camcorders have firewire out which will go straight into your computer. Just edit it there (with video editing software), and then burn it to the dvd.

You would only need a video capture card if you wanted to get footage from an old video tape, or if your camcorder didn't have firewire (which would be unusual)
