I copied a DVD into my computer to try to edit it and the files are called "VOB." My editing software (Roxio) does not recognize this file type. Is there any free software that will convert this to a useable file? I am doing a project for a non-profit so cost is of concern. Thank you.

I've never used Roxio but try "dvddecrypter" if its telling you its locked when you import it otherwise make sure you are specifiying that you are importing a dvd movie and not a movie file or video file (make sure it lets you select the entire folder and not just one file in the folder where the VOB files are located)

Thank you. DVD Decrypter is what I used to get this far but the file it produced is a VOB file. I now need software to convert that into something my software can read.

I use Cyberlink to edit my video clips and pictures. when i save them, it makes three different files from it; one being a .vob
for example, when i open it just from that file, it brings up Windows media player. Most likely, there is another type of file that actually opens the clips that the program you are using needs. mine is a .pds file. hope this helps!!!
