I used Vegas 5.0 acouple of days ago and found it fairly easy to use.
I use to use Ulead 7 Video Studio, but I like Vegas much better it has a lot of professional looking tools.
The quality of my videos are much better and I don't lose that quality when I render the video also.
The only thing that took me a while to figure out was how to make titles over the video while it is playing.(having a transparent background)
But I read the pdf manual and found out how in ten minutes.
I really like Vegas I will be making all my video's with it from now on.

...well I produced my 1st project this past weekend. I rendered 30 mins. of video, loaded with media fx and 37 hours later Shocked it was finally done. I rendered it to avi. format. Is this the norm? Or is there a quicker way to render without losing the quality? OH! I to had the problem with Title overlay....adding it over the video was the trick....I printed up the manual and put it into a rather large binder to read through when time was available 400 pgs. , but it is very easy to find and address topics. I also printed the manual for the DVD Architect...have you used this software? It looks farly simple.... Lemme Know! Cool

When I render my video's with Vegas it does take awhile, for one of my bigger video's
which was 83mb it took about 3 hours or so.
But I have never had to wait 37 hours.
I render my video's as .wmv files and it seems to work fine.
The guy that runs www.1320video.com says he uses .wmv and his vids always have nice quality to them.
I also render my vids at 1mb, when it asks you what quality you want to use.
I just kept messing with rendering vids until I found a good combination.

wmv is good. great compression with nice quality. I just dont see how render time can be an issue to anyone xD Just enjoy the finished product and put up with the render times [or get more ram].

no one is going to look at your footage and say "it was nice, but, i bet it took too long to render." however 37 hours... if i may use a technical term for that: "OMFG"

Yes it takes longer if you load it up with effects, but wmv sure helps.
