Movie Shot List or Log Sheet

While shooting, every take is written down in a shot list. Sometimes we call that list a log sheet. The most commonly used format for shot list is as follows:
Scene # Shot # Take # Time code in Time code out Remarks

Having this shot list will certainly make your editing session easier. However, sometimes it doesn’t make sense to write down shot list while you are shooting, say, a wedding video for your friend.

But always try to make one even after shooting. Maybe just jog down a simple description and related time code. You don’t have a bad take for your friend’s wedding, do you?

Searching for a particular take from tape, not knowing where it is located, is always the last thing I want to do.
